About me
I am Stephanie, an analog and digital gamer living in Belgium. I have been exploring the fascinating world of modern boardgames since 2012, after a detour of playing Magic: the Gathering for about a decade. Given that M:tG history I still have a soft spot for card games and mechanisms like engine/tableau building. Over the past couple of years the boardgaming hobby has claimed a room in our house to store all the games, it got me in touch with some great fellow geeks that I now call friends, and has given me many happy moments around the table.
My taste in games is diverse, so it’s probably easier to tell you what type of games I don’t like. Generally speaking, I don’t like cooperative games nor the very thematic “Ameritreasure” games – I tend to prefer dry euro games. My favorite boardgame mechanisms include tile laying, engine building, set collection. Among the least favorites you would find deduction, bidding and trick taking.
In my game groups, I’m often the gamesplainer, and with every game I explain to new players I’m still learning to get better at that.
Besides boardgaming I am a photography enthousiast. I have been taking photography classes since 2019 and I should get my diploma in 2024 - if all goes well. I am happy to combine my love for boardgames and passion for photography here and on Boardgamegeek.com.
